Software Design and Test Engineer

Our company is developing a JAVA based platform for Toyota for their new Camry. The unit sits on the head unit of the car and allows your phone to communicate with the head unit. Our group is developing cutting edge technology in the automotive space. We are integrating mobile phone connectivity for vehicles, enabling Toyota, Ford and other driving environments to safely access services like Pandora, iHeart Radio, Bing, OpenTable, Movie Tickets, and more.

SUMMARY:
Lead team of SDETs in testing of project features on server Back End components including TE and DB plus integration components for Uconnect project. Cover areas left vacant by recent resource losses to Server QA team by providing test framework design, development and mentorship for team as well as in conduction manual and automated testing and in supporting handoff to Operations team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coordinate support efforts with UAT team to ensure feature area product test coverage matches real-world issues and to support customer and partner integration efforts
- Support client test and development teams in the configuration, use and testing of server environments
- Create feature-level test plans with support from direct reports and feature area SMEs
- Maintain reliability, functionality and accessibility of the server Continuous Integration build system
- Perform application and database deployments to QA test environments
- Plan, coordinate, and execute system and feature-level performance tests working with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure minimal system impact
- Develop and maintain the organization of integration test cases (both manual and automated) into BVT's, Positive Functional Verification Tests and Negative Functional Verification Tests
- Represent direct reports in technical breakouts and design meetings with Development and PM to ensure testability, maintainability, usability and industry standard best practices are followed
- Review feature designs, specifications and requirements documents with Development and PM and apply to test planning and test case design/development
- Design, develop and execute manual and automated tests for feature projects
- Maintain existing and design and develop new test automation framework components against web and database services
- Perform code reviews against QA and Development check-ins
- Mentor direct reports on industry standards, best practices, test process and product domain

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

- Proven ability to quickly ramp up on new technologies and become a domain representative in internal and external stakeholder meetings
- Proven ability to produce Test Strategy, Test Plan and Test Case documentation using industry best practices and standards
- Proven ability to mentor a cross functional team of SDET and STE resources in a multi-tiered web application in partnership with major external partners
- 5+ years managing cross functional Software Engineering and Test teams
- 3+ years of experience with Java development and/or test automation framework development
- 3+ years of experience with Apache Tomcat (some of this time can be replaced with Microsoft ISS experience, but must be less than half)
- 3+ years of experience with Oracle database-backed product testing (some of this time can be replaced with Microsoft SQL Server or Postgres, but must be less than half)
- 2+ years of experience using JUnit (some of this time can be replaced with NUnit if development experience is C#)
- 3+ years of experience reporting, fixing and regressing defects using industry standard defect tracking software
- 2+ years of experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- 2+ years of experience managing project and resource time in Microsoft Project or similar Project management tool

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

- 1+ years of experience with JMeter for use in Performance Testing of Server API's
- 1+ years of experience with Eclipse IDE
- Strong understanding of industry standard static analysis and code coverage tools
- Experience working within a Continuous Integration environment
