Software Database Engineer SQL

Our client is the world's leading software enterprise seeking a Database Developer with both strong reporting and tool development experience/skills who is able to show passion for both supporting existing tools and new development projects. This contract offering is with a small team that supports several tools as well as OLAP and Data Warehousing BI. The majority of the responsibilities/time for this position will be used developing and maintaining financial tools. Existing tool modification and support will also be required. This role will be responsible for the database (T-SQL, stored procedures, SSIS) and reporting (SSAS cube, MDX, Excel with.NET) components of the tools.

OVERVIEW

- Partners with program manager to identify requirements, identify and evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions
- Actively participates as a team member on project team
- Architects, designs, and develops (based off of BRD) multi-dimensional schemas and SSRS reporting systems for internal partners
- Actively participates in technical investigations and prototyping
- Makes recommendations to improve business workflow efficiency and information access as well as provide education on the benefits and limitations of technology solutions
- Ensures data accuracy and reliability
- Checks ETL logs early in the morning to ensure data has loaded and data marts have built as scheduled
- Takes proactive steps to resolve any errors in the data or job streams
- Works with PM to provide end user support during period when tool is being used
- Authors required technical and support documentation
- Supports production SQL processes (designs and installs patches, adds functionality, improves performance)

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must have extensive experience (5+ years) with SQL 2008 (or 2012), database design and tuning
- Must be able to sustain existing DB schemas, stored procedures, etc. as required to support business needs
- Design and develop required reporting using SSAS and building cubes for reporting
- Batch processing skills (OS command, SSIS, PowerShell, or similar)
- C# skills a plus
- Must be able to contribute to development methodologies and best practices
- Cross group collaboration skills
- Ability to support integration testing and UAT efforts

This contract position is expected to be 12 months in duration.
