Currently we re looking for an individual that can professionally monitor the database environment and ensure that all jobs and processes are running optimally and efficiently. This work is for a BI solutions team leveraging a complex infrastructure of hardware and data sources.

REQUIRED TECH SKILLS

- SQL Server DBA: all traditional DB Admin areas such as deployment management, monitoring, and admin support
- SCOM: experienced with setting up, maintaining, and reporting out of SCOM
- Dell and HP Hardware
- Up to 5 year old hardware, to current gen Servers
- Firmware, Hardware troubleshooting, etc.
- Dell Compellent SANs (iSCSI)
- Windows Server 2012, core OS capabilities
- Hyper-V/Virtualization

The role will focus on the middle ground of strategy and tactical work. To influence on strategic decisions based on current tactical capabilities, and to turn strategy into tactical steps for the Ops team to implement, while maintaining day-to-day operations.

This role sits between strategy and tactical; s/he will be expected to help ensure documentation and process workflows are up to date, and available to all members of the Ops team for training and review. The documentation includes task-specific processes (deployment to an environment of new code, updating service account passwords, organization of projects for maintainability, etc.) as well as general Ops processes (troubleshooting, investigation of job failures, daily monitoring).
