Software Controls Engineer

Role: Software Controls EngineerLocation: Turriff,AberdeenshireRole Type: Contract or Permanent I am currently recruiting for a turnkey solution provider covering the design, manufacture, testing and installation of high quality bespoke winching equipment and deck machinery. Our client manufactures equipment to full certification by accredited bodies and to industry standards ensuring clients' specific quality obligations and both national and international statutory safety requirements are met.My client is are looking to recruit an experienced Software Controls Engineer to be responsible of specification/design/coding/checking of electrical/electronic/control systems in accordance with relevant international standards and production of related parts list, whilst supporting Manufacturing and participating in site commissioning activities when required. Key Responsibilities:Carry out work as directed by the Engineering Manager Obtain quotes from suppliers and formulating/technically approving purchase requisitions/orders as required for final approval by the Engineering ManagerConstruct and maintain Parts Lists for all current and ongoing projectsConstruct detailed electrical/electronic/control circuitsConstruct system functionality descriptionsEnsure ATEX markings are correct on equipment name platesReport relevant information to Line Manager on a daily basisProduce/approve commissioning procedures for electrical/electronic/control systemsAttend and input at departmental and project meetingsAttend Client technical meetings as requiredLiaise with 3rd party Design Verification authorities as demanded by the contractApproval and signing of electrical drawings/documents Key Requirements:Degree or equivalent gained in an appropriate Engineering based discipline (typically accredited by lEE).Preferred:Masters Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Software EngineeringCEng or working towards A foundation knowledge of industry standard PLC/SCADA equipment and the functions they performExperience of full software development life cycleWorking knowledge of industry standard communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Modbus and Profibus.Working knowledge of how to implementing interfaces between software and hardware.Preferred:Proven relevant experience in a similar industryExperience of working with high voltage electrical switchgear and drive control equipmentHave a sound knowledge of and be experienced in the application of the latest relevant IEC standards and statuary legislation such as BS7671, IEC 61508, IEC 61511Previous working experience within the Maritime, Oil and Gas or similar industries would be highly advantageousPrevious supervisory experience
