Software Configuration Management Engineer

SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT ENGINEER SANTA CLARA, CA CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT ENGINEER to join our client s Software Engineering team. This team is designing/developing a new wave of social application targeted for smartphones/tablet products. The CM Engineer is expected to participate in all phases of software development life cycle.

The main responsibilities will include source control, builds, configuration management, packaging, tool automation, and other aspects of configuration management for a large and geographically software code base.

Ideal candidate will work with application development team to define source control policies, will develop and use tools to build and then enforce such policies. This position also needs some expertise in software development, networking and operating system intervals.

This is a hands-on engineering position and Ideal candidate is expected to be able to work and own day to day responsibilities with minimum supervision.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- 4+ years of experience in geographically distributed code base configuration management
- 2+ years working in either Android or iOS software development environment
- 2+ years of experience with GIT, SVN and Gerrit usage
- 3+ years of experience with Bash Scripting
- 4+ years of experience with Make, rpmbuild, and automated build mechanisms
- 1+ years working with Gerrit
- Degree in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent; BS + 4 years of experience, or MS + 3 years experience in relevant field

PREFERRED SKILLS:

- 2+ years of experience in Java/C or C++ programming, and/or iOS programming
- Experience with CVS, and at least one more source control systems
- Experience with Scripting languages: Python, Perl, etc.
- Experience with Linux open source projects, including both user space and Kernel space
- Experience with IP/licensing tools such as Protex
- Experience with autoconf
- Experience with the Mozilla toolset/Bugzilla and integration of Bugzilla with GIT and Gerrit
- Experience with developing and maintaining tools for automated install, setup for testing in software developer labs
- Understanding of Linux distribution packaging
- Experience with packaging tools such as RPM and archiving tools such as tar
