Position Title: Software Asset Management Analyst

Kaiser Permanente's eight Regions are comprised of separate, but closely cooperating organizations.

These organizations are:
Kaiser Foundation Health Plans: A non-profit, public-benefit corporation that contracts with individuals and groups to provide HMO and other health benefit plans. Kaiser Foundation Health Plans contracts with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and medical groups to provide services.

Kaiser Foundation Hospitals: A non-profit, public-benefit corporation that owns and operates hospitals in California, Oregon, and Hawaii; owns outpatient facilities in all states where they do business; provides or arranges hospital services; and sponsors charitable, educational, and research activities.

Permanente Medical Groups: Partnerships or professional corporations of physicians - one in each Kaiser Permanente Region. The full responsibility for providing and arranging necessary medical care is assumed in each Region by the Permanente Medical Groups.

Scope:

THE IBM VENDOR BUSINESS CONSULTANT POSITION REPORTS TO THE MANAGER, SOFTWARE LICENSE MANAGEMENT. THE IBM VENDOR BUSINESS CONSULTANT WILL BE ONE OF THE PRIMARY CONTACTS FOR MANAGING THE IBM SOFTWARE CONTRACTS. THIS INCLUDES BEING IS A POINT OF ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT OF IBM SOFTWARE ASSETS TO INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF POLICIES, STANDARDS, PROCESSES, SYSTEMS AND MEASUREMENTS THAT ENABLE THE SOFTWARE LICENSE MANAGEMENT TEAM TO MANAGE THE IBM SOFTWARE PORTFOLIO WITH RESPECT TO RISK, COST CONTROL, IT GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES. ANOTHER MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO COMPLETE THE SET UP AND REPORTING OF LICENSE IBM LICENSE DEPLOYMENT USING SUCH TOOLS AS TADFD.

RESPONSIBILITIESability to manage multiple projects concurrently;
Ability to manage all software licensing aspects of large, software deployments;
Ability to participate in and provide quality input into the demand forecast process;
In-depth knowledge of vendor licensing models; experience understanding complex software volume licensing/maintenance programs, their entitlements, and contract terms;
Ability to track and assess the impacts of contract, product functionality and licensing changes on software license entitlements and deployments;
Ability to analyze the financial, legal, and business implications of licensing and maintenance program changes;
Ability to understand technical implementation of software and how it affects software licensing
Ability to use technology background to interact with technical staff
Ability to use asset management repository and discovery tools;
Ability to provide tracking and reporting of software license entitlements against deployments
Act as a software compliance subject matter expert and provide guidance and expert advice
Ability to support the Software License Entitlement and Verification process
Ability to support the resolution of issues raised in software adjudications
Ability to comply with all regulatory and internal requirements relevant to the role, (eg, Sarbanes Oxley, HIPPA, Code of Conduct, Financial Control Framework)
Adhere to values and high ethical standards of behavior by demonstrating respect, honesty, consistency and fairness when interacting with colleagues, customers, business partners and other stakeholders;
Make use of knowledge around key terms and complexities in software acquisitions for Mainframe, distributed, and desktop software.

SMO Program Responsibilities:

Support SMO/VMO program efforts by developing and participating in the following:
Assist with cost reduction, cost avoidance/containment efforts and track progress
Support department activities surrounding supplier management, compliance, reporting, and risk management processes
Maintain department listings and database tracking of both supplier and internal IBM technical Subject Matter Expert contacts
Implement benchmarking and improvement effort and audit outcomes to ensure the contract continues to deliver value

REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. degree in business, IT, operations, computer science or related technical field, or equivalent IT experience, and/or business degree with substantial IT contracting/software licensing experience.
6-8 years related experience, with 3+ years managing software (specifically IBM) licensing or technology in large, complex organizations, particularly with respect to governing external hardware or software suppliers to deliver IT products
Desirable professional certifications CSAM, IAITAM; willingness to obtain any required training or certifications presumed
Desirable to be knowledgeable in ISO 19770-1 Standards for Software Asset Management processes and policies; ITIL practices for software as it relates to support and configured assets

The candidate should have a deep understanding of IBM hardware and software contracts, IBM licensing metrics and compliance reporting on those metrics.

The candidate will bring to the position the following education and experience:
