Role Purpose:

To take a leading role in the Simulation and Modelling activities associated with the 100B models (ie maintenance, improvement, and other support), including taking responsibility for the GSM.

Accountabilities

Project: Spear (100B): Member of modelling team, responsible for development of Systems Models for the 100B model team.

Specific responsibilities:
- To take a leading and flexible role in the development of the 100B model.
- The tasks are likely to include support to the integration and testing of Seeker Models and development of body flexure and vibration modules.
- The models are developed in Matlab/Simulink the role will involve full participation in developing, maintaining and modifying the application of the LOCI process and procedures to enable successful autocoding and testing of the software. This will require modification of the model design in line with specifications and ensuring all quality and technical standards are achieved to ensure all standards are maintained. Investigations will also be required into a wide range of problems, either individually or in conjunction with the project team.

It will be necessary to specify tests and produce appropriate test harnesses to support the model testing. Initial analysis of test results will be required, and to make recommendations based on the results, including making suggestions to improve the test/diagnosis processes.

Skills and Knowledge

- Degree (or equivalent) in a numerate/engineering discipline. Plus at least 3 years experience in modelling.
- Good coding skills in C and at least one other language.
- Specialist knowledge of Mathworks Simulink modelling methodologies.
- An understanding of underlying mathematics (axes transformations, aerodynamics, dynamics, etc.).
- Good analytical skills - the ability to recognize the correct level of detail of modelling required.
- Full understanding of Modelling processes.
- Knowledge of modelling tools (Visual Studio, Simulink, Dimensions) and the ST development environment.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
