EHS ADVISOR - STAFFORD

Our client are a a leading player in the Electrical Transport and Transmission field. There is an opening for an EHS Advisor on a fixed term contract basis (12-18 months) to provide support to one of their business areas in a Workshop environment. You will be responsible to provide advice and pratical support on Statutory and company requirements for EHS, achieve continuous improvement in EHS standards and carry out surveillance and monitoring of EHS activities within Workshops and Project Office phase of projects.

Key reposnsibilities include but are not limited to;

- Provide durable and systematic support and EHS Advice to Workshops Managers, Personnel and functional departments and project execution teams.
- Ensure a Safe System of Work is in place for Workshops, covering all operations.
- Ensure an effective process is implemented for Setting-to-Work of Contractor working within Workshops under Alstom direct control. Provide systematic surveillance of Contractor performance.
- Ensure all work is performed in full compliance with mandatory Safety Instructions, particularly for those activities designated as high-risk.
- Perform monitoring by conducting internal EHS audits and inspections on site, within the Stafford GSS offices and Workshops.
- Conduct accident and near miss investigations and produce written report. Determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Collate, review, analyse and report on (1) accident and near miss data, and (2) audit and inspection data to identify trends.
- Assist in the process of obtaining and maintaining external certifications such as ISO 14001, OHSAS18001, Achilles Verify and NER's.

Key Requirements.

- Extensive experience within a Workshop or Production environment, Electrical Test background or Electrical Transmission industry background.
- NVQ4 Occupational Health NEBOSH General Certificate; GradIOSH,Environmental qualification advantageous (IEMA, IOSH, NEBOSH)
- Able to connect and communicate at all levels in an organisation - IT literacy a must and be able to deliver Toolbox level information through to senior Managers
- Able to grasp technical operations and in particular understand electrical and mechanical process risks - ideally electrical test background or sub-station experience
- Understands the requirements of Lean manufacturing environment - ideally has practical knowledge and experience of such systems and processes and how EHS fits these
- Can assimilate into a complex and diverse organisation, and is used to working with such - resilience and ability to keep moving forward
- Is able to prioritise workload requirements with minimal supervision - able to understand business needs and translate into concrete action
- Prepared to take ownership and make decisions which are justified - action centric, able to decide where and when to make decisions and when to defer to higher authority
- People coaching skills - must be able to describe what "good" looks like to others and mentor to improve behaviours
