URGENT CONTRACT/FREELANCE OPPORTUNITY:
Microsoft Systems Engineer SharePoint, SQL Long term contract Brussels, Belgium Competitive rate (Dependent on experience).
My client, a Government Sector agency based in Brussels require a Microsoft Systems Engineer with mainly SharePoint and SQL skills to join them on-site on a long term contract basis.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Overall responsibilities:
The main responsibility of the Service Provider will be to act as a Microsoft Systems Engineer focusing on Microsoft technologies like Biztalk, SharePoint, Internet Information Server, MS SQL, Team Foundations Server, Microsoft cluster. The Service provider will supply added value in implementing, administering and maintaining Microsoft Solutions based on these technologies.
The service provider will work in the "Office Databases & Applications", which is now composed of 10 persons.
The service provider will be responsible for Windows-Servers which host the applications and databases of the client.
Currently in scope
SharePoint 2010 and 2013 to include also Workflow Manager, Office Web Apps, integration with SQL Reporting, SharePoint and Provider hosted apps
SQL 2008 and SQL 2012 to include Database Engine, Analysis Services, Integration
Services, Reporting
IIS Websites for Intranet, Extranet and Internet
Team Foundation Servers (TFS)
MS Cluster Services
Implement a smooth transitioning from Test to Staging and Production
TASK DESCRIPTION
Project work
Migration of all databases from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012
Create an inventory of the current SQL 2008 databases and the applications in which they are used
Make a migration plan with timings (envisaged end-date 31/12/2017, where the total migration is finished)
Perform the effective migration with the developers and testing with end-users
Migration of web and service applications from SP2010 to SP2013
Plan, test and perform the migration of service applications and web applications from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013
Work in cooperation with Ionut Inteleptu, the SharePoint developers and the
SharePoint Governance Team
Daily maintenance of SharePoint farms
Change the configuration of SharePoint based on user requests
Plan, perform and verify backup
Manage SharePoint objects via GUI and PowerShell
Audit and Heath Check of current SQL-databases
Work in cooperation with a Microsoft consultant on site or remote
Scope: performance, security, ability to fail over (with live tests) using clusters and Always on Availability groups
Feasibility of restores within a reasonable time frame
Review the current Recovery model of SQL databases
Current recovery model is simple
Evaluate the migration to full recovery model (cost, performance, price, time to restore, estimated data loss)
Could be granular: depending on the database and application
