Contract Term

This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd, 2013. It can be viewed on our Job Board on our website.

This will likely be a 6 month initial contract opportunity, although the Client may look at 12 month initial. There is a good possibility it could extend.

Overview

Our Client is seeking a SharePoint Application Support Specialist. The selected resource is intended to provide Level 2 support for users of SharePoint for predominately out of the box functionality. This includes team sites, administrating security permissions, some analysis of new functionality requests and general how-to questions.

Because the focus of this role will be support - interfacing directly with business clients - a customer focus attitude and experience in providing support is a must.

Role and Responsibilities

Our client uses SharePoint heavily for a variety of business requirements, including collaboration; document sharing, data tracking, team sites, and simple workflows. There are a few customized applications built using the SharePoint platform, but this person will not be required to do any custom development that requires net new code. There may be changes in configuration that are required or any development that is done through the user interface.

The daily responsibilities for a SharePoint support person include:

- Responding to client calls/emails regarding the use of their current SharePoint site
- Working with the SharePoint infrastructure group to triage, diagnosis and resolve technical issues
- Working with other members of IT, Business Analysts and Architects, to help analyze business requirements as they relate to SharePoint as a solution
- Administer security and permissions
- Understand security design and our Client site map
- Help clients and IT leverage SharePoint - using their understanding of its functionality, capabilities and limitations
- Provide support to business clients as required
- Develop and maintain documentation required to support SharePoint (from a Level 2 perspective).

Qualifications

Required Skills

- Minimum 5 years of SharePoint experience (technical knowledge of SharePoint is a necessity, but not in it's application from an infrastructure or development point of view)
- Minimum 5 years of Application Support experience
- Understanding ITIL practices is ideal
- Understanding of the support life cycle
- Customer focus attitude and experience in providing support is a must.

Desired Skills:

- Business Analysis experience would be an asset, but not required.
