The Role

- Set the architectural vision (1-5 years in the future) for Enterprise Services and Business Process Management (BPM) components of the new Global Payments Platform.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced service architects
- Ensure all projects/programmes of work in the Enterprise Services and Business Process Management (BPM) area are appropriately assessed and designed in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Build and maintain relationship with key business data stakeholders to understand and influence the current and future business strategy and needs with respect to Enterprise Services and Business Process Management (BPM)
- Work closely with the Enterprise Architect team to create and maintain a Service strategy that is consistent with business strategy and needs
- Ensure solutions are consistent with the Enterprise technology strategy and blueprint
- Build and maintain relationships with critical suppliers and partners, both internal and external, to ensure project deliverables are aligned with architectural and quality objectives
- Provide leadership and direction for internal and external Delivery Partners, both onshore and offshore

Key Accountabilities

- Provide leadership and direction to the BA community to ensure that requirements are of sufficient detail and quality to create a valid architectural design
- Provide leadership and direction to the project team in the understanding and implementation of the design, providing technical guidance where required, to ensure successful project delivery, to the quality required.
- Quality Assurance - ensure that all appropriate documentation is complete and procedures are adhered to.
- Continuous improvement - ensure that software engineering processes (including tools and technical environments) are 'best' of breed, review and improve technology processes, to enable high quality but quicker project delivery for the business. Implement best practices within the Enterprise Services and Business Process Management (BPM) community.

Skills & Experience

- Experience driving architecture, design and technical delivery of technology projects.

Experience

- Minimum 3 years successful commercial experience in developing high performance/availability batch file, transactional processing solutions who have a wide variety of design and delivery exposure and who will have progressed quickly in their career to date.
- Experience in offshore/onsite delivery models.
- Has worked on large programs of work and managed significant work packages within a major project.
- Genuine enthusiasm for excellence in design coupled with an appropriate level of delivery pragmatism.
- Knowledge of the global payments industry is desirable or a good understanding of payments transaction life cycle: Messaging flow through capture, routing, formatting/translation, transmission and auditing.
- Communicate effectively at all levels both within Technology, business and 3rd party service providers.
- Demonstrate an awareness of commercial and contractual issues.

Technical Knowledge

- Experience of Java and J2EE and associated concepts including Object-Oriented and Service-Oriented design.
- Experience of relational databases such as Oracle 12g.
- Full development life cycle experience using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

People Management:

- Lead, direct, mentor and motivate team members
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
