Service Orientated Architect - SOA - Amsterdam

JOB DESCRIPTION:

For my client based in Amsterdam I am currently seeking a SOA Architect for an initial 6 month+ contract. Dutch is NOT required for this position.

The SOA Architect is responsible for specifying the high-level architecture, service design, technologies, and standards of a system. The SOA Architect collaborates with business analysts and developers in providing an IT infrastructure relevant for thus business. The SOA Architect will work to establish the strategic technical direction for the system. The SOA Architect will also serve as an evangelist of the architectural vision, strategy, and principles to internal staff, customers, analysts, and leadership.

OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

1. Technology Oversight: Maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging developments and trends in technology that could impact current projects and influence new projects.

2. Evangelism of architectural vision, strategy, and principles.

3. High-level technical consultation and developer mentoring.

4. Plan and implement the technical Enterprise Architecture, including both short and long term strategies for retiring certain Legacy systems, integrating existing systems and new systems implementation recommendations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Qualifications/Experience (including years and technical experience required):

1. Experience designing an enterprise application with enterprise workflow and business process integration components

2. Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).

3. Experience as an architect from inception to delivery of J2EE projects.

4. Experience deploying J2EE rich and/or web client applications in a high-availability, clustered environment.

5. Exemplary general IT knowledge (applications development, testing, deployment, operations, documentation, standards, best practices, security, hardware, networking, OS, DBMS, Middleware, etc.)

6. Expertise and experience in lightweight, rapid development, agile methodologies.

7. Ability to work as a team member/leader in a diverse technical environment

8. Extensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and/or principles of software engineering

9. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

10. Able to work independently with minimal supervision

11. Previous Banking Experience.

1. Operating Systems example: Solaris, Linux, Windows XP, Windows Server 2000, Windows Server 2003

2. Java, J2EE (Servlets,JSP,EJB,JMS,and related), Spring, JavaBeans, Enterprise JavaBeans, J2EEXML(DOM, SAX, XSL, XSLT, DTD, Schema)

3. Web Services: SOAP, REST, XML, WSDL, WS-Security, WS-Signature, WS-*

4. Middleware: JMS, Apache/Tomcat, Glassfish, Oracle Weblogic

5. Relational Databases examples: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server

6. Business Process Integration: Java based rules engines and workflow engines
