JOB DESCRIPTION:
Working as a member of the IT Web Development Team, the Senior Web Developer is responsible for the design and development of Internet applications which provide the capability for external donors and partners to initiate transactions that are interfaced into World Vision's core systems. This includes understanding of functional requirements and translating those requirements into technical requirements, design and development of the functionality to meet those requirements, and stringent unit testing of that functionality. The Senior Developer may also be required to create the functional requirements for smaller projects, and maintenance requests.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Technical analysis, design and models of solutions to meet business needs.
- Development of efficient, maintainable applications using industry standard techniques and tools.
- Estimation of work effort for assigned tasks, and adherence to those estimates.
- Extensive testing of all programming changes to minimize the number of defects found during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Work with other members of the software development team to facilitate seamless communication between systems.
- Provide business and technical documentation for all applications developed.
- Participate in design and code reviews with other members of the software development team to ensure high standards and best practices are being used, and that the best solutions are being developed.
- Provide assistance and mentoring to other developers, especially in areas of expertise. This may involve formal presentations during mentor hour sessions.
- Research emerging tools and technologies, and determine opportunities to utilize them within applications.
- Provide recommendations on what tools, frameworks and platforms should be used for solutions being developed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):
Qualified candidates must be a dynamic team player, able to contribute as a member of a team in a fast paced web development environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to translate business requirements into technical design documents that will form the basis of development solutions in the C# language utilizing the ASP.NET framework.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree including Computer Technology courses and/or college diploma in Computer Technology or equivelant experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in development using C#/ASP.NET
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jquery and json
- Familiarity with Visual Studio 2010 development environment
- Experience with SQL server databases
- Sharepoint web part and workflow development experience; SVN and WCF service experience considered strong assets
