Senior Vmware Administrator/Engineer

Senior VMWare (ESXi 4 & ESXi 5) Administrator/Engineer with strong Powershell Scripting skills to work within the VISM organisation's Swiss based team of an investment bank. You will be Embedded in a following the Sun support model by managing the international VMware farms (Frankfurt & London) with a main focus on the Swiss infrastructure. The job includes on-call duty for the ESX infrastructure in Switzerland.

The VISM team provides second level support and has the focus on the ESX application layer. In your role as a VMware System Administrator you will work in a small VMware team of 5 members. You will join a fast growing infrastructure in dynamically environment where you will be involved in challenging projects. You will be responsible for the ESXi 4.* and ESXi 5.* infrastructure of the client. Your open and approachable nature helps you to collaborate with your international team members and customers.

Task & Responsibilities:
- Virtual farm capacity management
- VM Provisioning process using tools like EVM by ManagedIQ
- Manage Large global VMWare environment as part of a global service delivery team
- Work closely with Engineering group to bring environment to standard
- Proactive investigation of all aspects of environment to minimize downtime
- Document technical procedures
- Develop scripts to report and solve operational problems
- Evaluation of tools
- Perform P2V and V2V
- Manage global technical projects in virtual platform
- Perform virtual hardware upgrade
- Ad-hoc Performance Analysis

Required Experience/Skills:

- Extensive experience in VMware ESXi 4.* and ESXi 5.* (senior level)
- Good command of English and German (optional), written and spoken
- Know-how on Windows Server, Linux, Solaris, SQL and Storage (SAN/NAS)
- Self-consistent, assertive and approachable
- Ideally you worked in global enterprise organisation already
- Experience building Servers on ESX platform
- Knowledge on Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Understanding of HP & DELL blades and chassis hardware
- Understanding of networking concept
- Understanding of backup and recovery of VMs
- High motivation on automation
- Decent Scripting skills (eg Powershell, Phyton)
