Senior User Experience Designer

Our client is a hugely popular Northwest based company seeking an innovative, self-motivated, Senior User Experience Designer to lead new design initiatives and champion a variety of customer experience improvements to their retail presence. The ideal candidate will exhibit an uncanny sense for providing elegant, mainstream presentations of expansive content and assorted feature types. You will share a collaborative workspace with a tight knit community of design and user research professionals. You will have a dedicated partnership with agile development teams focused on leveraging customer passion to help millions of shoppers worldwide. Because the scope of this position will extend across a manifold of features and product lines across our retail site, the ability to balance high-level, holistic reasoning with detail-oriented feature design is imperative.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Working closely with cross-functional teams to help define feature requirements via empirical online data, usability findings, market research, and proven UCD principles
- Providing thought leadership in architecting a near and long term design vision for our product detail pages
- Developing process flows, wireframes, and mockups to effectively conceptualize and communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors
- Working with our Usability and Data Mining teams to assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features and page frameworks
- Responsibly and effectively advocating for customers in a corporate climate; imparting day-to-day strategic design leadership that fosters a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values
- Partner with user researchers and Business Intelligence teams to appropriately assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- At least 5 years of work experience in Interface Design, Interaction Design, or Information Architecture
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
- Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and relevant, user-centered design solutions
- Proficiency in design tools (eg Photoshop, Fireworks, Visio, Omnigraffle, Dreamweaver, Illustrator)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Retail/E-commerce design experience in a global context
- Ability to prototype in HTML/CSS, Axure, or other tools
- Proficiency with web standards and accessibility compliance

This contract position is expected to be 3 months in duration.
