Senior Treasury Accountant

Our client is currently recruiting for a Senior Treasury Accountant for a 9 week post in Staines. They have has a complex £12bn debt portfolio structure supported by a substantial range of financial derivatives and hedges (Inflation-linked swaps, Interest Rate Swaps and Cross Currency Swaps).

You will need to be able to demonstrate;

* Very strong technical capability in accounting and reporting treasury transactions under multiple GAAP (UKGAAP, New UKGAAP and IFRS)
* Proficient in IAS 39 and IFRS 13, and equivalents in other GAAP
* Competence in the hedge designation and accounting for cash flow or fair value hedges (and accounting for hedge ineffectiveness)
* Broad understanding of derivative valuation modelling
* Ability to plan, work and deliver to tight deadlines
* A good grounding in reporting of finance income and expenditure for statutory reporting and disclosure
* Experience working with Treasury Management Systems

This role is ideally suited to a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or an equivalent qualification) with 5-7 years of relevant treasury experience. This is an interim role to provide cover for a permanent person on maternity leave and assist the Back Office Controller and the team deliver year-end requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Reviewing all hedge accounting entries for swaps designated as cash flow and fair value hedges

Reviewing accounting and consolidation journals (including amortisations, accretion, interest, derivatives, etc..) under the Group's multi GAAP structure (UKGAAP, New UKGAAP and IFRS)

Reviewing month end Treasury reports (e.g.: net debt schedules, fair value commentaries, derivative summaries, etc...)

Preparation and review of Treasury information for year end reporting and accounts disclosure.

Review of annual statutory accounts

Manage and review the work of the Temporary Junior Treasury Accountant/s to ensure it is controlled, accurate and timely

Maintain documentation relating to the accounting treatment of Financial Instruments within the Treasury portfolio
