Senior Test Engineer

This position will be placed in customer labs and responsibilities include testing of Customer equipment involving various technologies like xDSL, VoIP and Wi-Fi standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION HOLDER INCLUDE:

- Understanding of product requirement documents, engineering requirement specifications, customer lab, production scenarios and creating new feature test cases in a test management system.
- Setting up of test beds in customer provided lab space and testing of scenarios based on customer and company test plans.
- Troubleshoot issues discovered in customer labs, logging defects in internal defect tracking system and assisting internal teams in debugging issues reported by the customers.
- Ensuring all test activities at customer labs meet customer defined processes and deadlines.

SKILLS:

- Understanding of LAN/WAN architectures, Wi-Fi standards, xDSL and VoIP protocols.
- Experience working with TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6 addressing, Ethernet, VLAN, ATM, PPP, DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ARP, NAT, Bridging, Switching, QOS, Multicast, IGMP v2/3 and Firewalls.
- Familiarity with two or more test tools like Spirent Test Center, SMB 2000/6000, IXIA products, Veriwave WT products, Triple Play tools like Shenick and packet analyzers (Wireshark/Ethereal).
- Experience working with industry standard Routers & Switches.
- Experience in test automation using a Scripting language such as Perl, Tcl or Shell Scripting is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to work in a team environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent and 5+ years of experience in software/quality/systems testing role.
- Direct experience with testing processes like test case creation, test bed setup, test execution and defect reporting/tracking tools.
- Familiarity working in a customer facing environment.
