Senior Technical Writer

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

-Minimum 4 years technical writing experience preferred.
- Experience in the telecommunications industry in position/s requiring technical writing skills.
- Experience with software applications (ie. Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Project, Visio etc).
- Experience with hardware associated with preparation of documents (ie. IBM compatible PCs, Apple computers, scanners, printers, etc.).
- Familiarity with telecommunications would be beneficial in comprehending areas of technical documentation.
- University degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
- Very good oral, written and presentation skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement, within general management guidelines.
- Good problem solving and teamwork skills.
- Proactive nature and ability to coordinate demands for document preparation across multiple groups.

The position level requires demonstration of the skills and acumen required as a Technical Writer without needing to be an expert in any particular software applications or management skill.

The person needs to demonstrate the ability to perform in the following areas and demonstrate relevant personality traits commensurate with these areas:

-Personal initiative and independence in achieving outcomes with clear goal and results orientation. Has a "can do" mentality.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to work as a team member to achieve team goals and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate, get the message across and provide direction on documentation issues.
- Ability to organise activities (ie.planning, tracking and progress of workload).
