Senior Technical Specialist - Exadata DBA

My client a leading Australian employer is looking for as Senior Technical Specialist-Exadata to join their team on an initial 6 month contract basis with extension options. Working as part of the Oracle project team the successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical advice, expertise and production support capabilities to the Exadata database environment.

Responsibilities of the role include:

- Use considerable technical expertise and judgement to define and implement technical solutions that support the business needs.
- Participate in after hours changes and quarterly patching.
- Provide consultancy and design skills, including deployment and support in the projects environment.
- Provide strategic input to design and quality assurance of technology solutions.
- Confer with systems users to develop areas of change in requirements, which permit greater efficiency, systems integration or cost reduction
- Technical design, coordinating the work on systems and integrating new applications with existing systems and files
- Provide effective and efficient infrastructure support to customers
- Assist application support teams with performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to the creation of technical strategies
- Support specific project goals by providing expertise and technical assurance for key system components to support costing efforts and to ensure the integrity of design. Execute tasks associated with the discipline; so as to maintain the integrity and quality of the operating environment
- Ensure processes are in place for the analysis and provision of training and or capability enhancement initiatives

To be considered for the role you must have:

- 5+ years experience installing, configuring, administering Oracle database environments from version 8i up and across Linux, Unix, AIX, Solaris and Windows Operating Systems in accordance with architectural designs and enterprise standards, covering installation, configuration, deployment, migration, performance & tuning, technical support and troubleshooting.
- Identification and resolution of complex Oracle problems/incidents using a thorough understanding of Oracle architecture and administration, security concepts, application architectures, clustering and high availability.
- You will have worked on projects and have a sound knowledge of Systems Development life cycle and have shown an ability to add value to a selection of DBMS and to the design of an application to provide performance, integrity, security and recoverability
- You will have in depth and up to date knowledge of Oracle having worked in that environment recently.
- You will have a track record of being able to problem solve on the spot, make the right decisions under pressure
- You will have experience in communicating effectively with customers and technical contacts alike.
- Exposure to other DMS such as SQL or Sybase will be highly regarded.
- NetBackup experience
- Experience in the following languages and tools:
- -Oracle Enterprise Manager/Grid Control
- -Toad
- -SQL
- -PL/SQL
- -Disk and Tape SAN
