Senior Systems Engineer

We are urgently recruiting for a Senior System Administrator to join our client located in Brussels, on a one (1) year contract. Our client is in the Public sector.
Minimum Language requirements:
- It is expected to be fluent (level C1/C2) in either English or French and at least independent user (level B1/B2) in the other language (French or English).
Job description:
- Act as Component Coordination
- Planning of the technical team
- Follow-up and improve component's quality
- Follow-up of reported problems and escalated incidents
- Serve as technical lead for designing, planning, assessing, implementing and/or migrating of the production environment for HQ and Delegations;
- Interact with service owners, operations managers and service teams to have a holistic view on the service and advise as needed;
- Management of central monitoring infrastructure;
- Implementation of test environment and - Proof of Concept- (POC);
- Participation in training seminars for IT officers;
- Improve knowledge and competencies;
- Participate in the 3rd line support, Problem Management and on-call standby service;
- Debugging and analysing of reported problems and escalated incidents;
- Drafting operational guidelines, procedures, installation notices and scripts for the integration, installation and upgrade of aforementioned component services;
- Assistance with roll-out of new ICT infrastructure projects;
- Operate in accordance with the defined ITIL processes and procedures;
- EEAS Data Centre Network administration and debugging tasks;
- Monitoring the network infrastructure by use of the available tools in order to make sure that end-to-end network connection (LAN/WAN) is available, fast, reliable and secure, at all times, in HQs (all buildings), in all Delegations and between them; informing/alerting the responsible EEAS service component owner in case of any abnormalities. Taking corrective action as needed;
The work has to be performed in the Client's premises in Brussels. The candidate will work in the Infrastructure Management Operations team and staff the On-Call Services, as described in the Framework contract.
You may be required to perform missions to any of the EU Delegations.
Working languages are French and English.
Mandatory Skills:
- Capacity to lead a technical operations team and service improvement projects related to the aforementioned component;
- Experience in knowledge transfer and competencies to the 2nd level support;
- Strong experience in improving operational processes through documentation and automation following ITIL methodology;
- Excellent knowledge of network administration including managing Cisco network devices/services (eg Routers, Switches, etc.), F5 Accelerators, Juniper and Palo Alto Firewalls;
- Extensive knowledge of monitoring tools Cacti, Anomaly Detective and Splunk or similar;
- Scripting and automation skills (CLI, Perl, );
- Ability to write technical notes in English;
- Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working;
- Good communication skills ;
- Quick learning ability is required, being organized, versatile and a results-oriented team player;
- Experience in providing support for enterprise environment;
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies and environments.
Certifications:
- ITILv3 certification(s);
- Minimum 2 technical certifications: CCDP/CCNP, CCNA, CCDE/CCIE, CCAr or relevant certifications of F5, Juniper, Palo Alto;
Assets
- Expertise in Network Security
- SANS certification related to Network Security
