Senior Systems Engineer

SR. SYSTEMS ENGINEER REDMOND, WA 12 MONTH CONTRACT

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and skills in deployment, maintenance and backup server infrastructure. Candidate must be self-directed and have good judgment, with the ability to multitask and balance competing demands.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Deploy and maintain the backup and server infrastructure.
- Maintain and troubleshoot custom applications.
- Assist team and end users with technical issues relating to connection to tools and resources.
- Develop and maintain documentation pertaining to the deployment and maintenance of individual components of the server backup process.
- Deploy and maintain custom in-house software, services and web apps in an enterprise environment.
- Consistently and proactively create new documentation for team knowledgebase containing relevant and actionable content to more efficiently troubleshoot solutions
- Drive design discussions and creates design documents, as part of Infrastructure Engineering.
- Facilitate definition and implementation of IT procedures and standards which promote quality, productivity, and reliability of information systems.
- Research, analyze, and recommend to management regarding technology changes/implications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5 years of relevant experience in IT (Infrastructure & Platform) Engineering
- Clear, fundamental understanding of relational databases and industry-recognized concepts pertaining to SQL Server, as well as writing SQL queries
- Strong experience administrating and deploying Windows Server 2008/2012
- Good knowledge of IIS 6 or above as well as web services to aid in troubleshooting and installations
- Ability to demonstrate creative thinking, advanced problem solving and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with Windows Server systems and applications
- Understanding of the administration of SQL database Servers
- Web application Servers and SSL communications
- Working knowledge of Scripting tools and languages
- Knowledge of standard backup infrastructures
- Virtual server technologies
- System-level security procedures
- Ability to re-engineer processes to improve efficiency
- Excellent problem solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (specifically report writing)
- Understanding of basic project management methodologies
- Bachelors degree (BA) or equivalent from four-year college

SKILLS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

- Experience installing and troubleshooting Microsoft Dynamics DRM
- Experience with Quantum backup hardware and VTLs
- Experience coding websites
- ITIL experience is beneficial
