Senior Systems Engineer

This is a 1 year contract position in Tampa, FL.

Position responsibilities:

- Assist in the requirements phase for projects
- Create high-level design documents from requirements using Object Oriented or Structured methods that contain items such as Use Cases, Flow diagrams, structure definitiions and architecture diagrams
- Creat detail design documents from high-level design documents
- Code an application from detail design documents
- Unit test applications
- Integration testing across interfacing functional groups that may be involved
- Lead project teams through the entire development process
- Review design documents, code and test results to ensure accuracy
- Become an SME of one area in wireless or Wireline telecommunications
- Document through release notes detailing the implementation process
- Assist operations with the actual implementation of an application

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- 7+ years experience in a Unix, Linux, Tandem or Mainframe software product development environment
- Strong telecommunications and wireless industry knowledge
- Strong knowledge of third party vendor tools (eg monitoring, scalability, performance tuning)
- Strong working knowledge of software design processes and methods
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using a source code management tool
- Solid understanding of system architecture
- Solid understanding of statistical and benchmark testing
- Proficient at Unix Shell Scripting (korn, Bourne, bash, etc.)
- Expert at one or more of the following languages: C, C++ or Java
- Proficient in developing SQL
- Heavy experience with Oracle or Informix development and design techniques
- Object Oriented development experience
- Experience with Integrated Development Environments (Forte, JBuilder, Visual Studio)
