Senior Systems Analyst/Programmer - Java

As a SENIOR SYSTEMS ANALYST/PROGRAMMER you will be responsible for the planning, designing, development and maintenance of software and services. You will undertake all application development tasks within best practice Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Project Management methodology, ensuring that the deliverables conform to expected quality, timelines and budgets.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide technical expertise and recommendations during the assessment of new IT projects and initiatives
- Participate in project organisation and planning activities for application development.
- Undertake applications and systems programming duties as required.
- Ensure that all development work confirms to design and development principles outlined in the design document.
- Undertake Systems Analysis and Design activities. Develop detailed technical design documents incorporating data flow diagrams, data model, technologies adopted and development methodology etc.
- Undertake ongoing system maintenance and support activities as assigned by the Manager.

YOUR SKILLS

- Demonstrated programming experience within medium to large bespoke application development, including program specification, design and documentation, in many of the following areas - Java and MVC design techniques, JavaScript, JSPs and Servlets, Middleware technologies etc.
- Recent practical experience with Ingres or another major relational database system.
- Recent practical experience in the design and development of web-based applications and Web Services technologies including AJAX, SOAP, UDDI and WSDL.
- Proven experience in an enterprise development environment.
- Understanding of security issues related to the deployment of Web Services and recent practical experience in the design, development and delivery of such services and in certificate management.
- Formal tertiary qualifications in Information Technology highly desirable.
