Senior Sybase DBA

SCOPE OF WORK:

As part of the global DBA organization the Sybase database team provides 2nrd and 3rd Level Support for Trading and Sales, Corporate, Retail and Private Banking Applications. Within the operational Database Support Sector we are currently seeking an Sybase DBA to join our team.

Your main responsibility for technical management and coordination of issues and projects primarily involving installation, configuration and on-going administration tasks Sybase databases. You will upgrade and migrate Sybase databases and be involved in the configuration management and backup recovery. In addition to operational responsibilities you will provide various services to our developers as well as to application platforms within the company. This will include troubleshooting, tuning assistance and query optimization assistance.
Active participation in the resolution of system and performance issues Close working relationship with other team members locally and globally to provide understanding across all components of the database environments.
DBA support for development teams and involvement in recommendations for new projects
Additional function to provide advice and assistance in terms of developing and progressing the infrastructure environments, including the assessment of needs and recommend solutions in an Enterprise IT.

SKILLS:

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in Sybase Database (min. 5 years) and at least 3-5 years production support experience.You will speak fluent English, German is desirable.If you are a team player with a lot of drive, are able to work on multiple tasks and under a lot of pressure - you will be the ideal candidate for our team!

MUST HAVE:

- Professional DBA of Sybase ASE database and Sybase Replication Server administration
- work experience in Sybase ideally within the financial sector
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
- Good SQL and basic Scripting language (Perl, Shell) knowledge
- English skills
- Good communication skills

KNOWLEDGE WHICH IS AN ADVANTAGE:
- knowledge of Sybase Replication Server/Sybase IQ
- Experience with MS SQL Server
- skills and experience in DB Tuning/Optimization
- Virtualization (VM-Ware)

NICE TO HAVE:
- ability to build and maintain customer relationship
- experience in writing documentation
- ITIL
- German skills

WORK LOCATION: Zürich

START ASAP

DURATION: 6 months, extension possible

PERMITS REQUIRED: EU citizen or valid work permit
