Senior Sybase Database Administrator
Edelway SA is a Swiss IT Services Company. Our global Banking client based in Zürich, Switzerland, is currently looking for Sybase Database Administrators to join them on a long term basis.
THE ROLE
*You will join the Sybase database team that provides 2 and 3rd level support for Trading and Sales, Corporate, Retail and Private Banking Applications.
*Responsibility for the technical management and coordination of issues and projects primarily involving installation, configuration and on-going administration tasks for the Sybase databases
*Upgrade and migration of Sybase databases and taking care of configuration management and backup recovery
*Strong cooperation with Sybase developers and the different Sybase application interfaces within the bank
*Database troubleshooting, tuning and query optimization
*Participation in solving system and performance issues
*Collaboration with other Sybase team members locally and globally
YOUR PROFILE
*Education in IT or the relevant work experience in the database area
*Strong experience as a Sybase DBA
*Experience with Unix/Linux
*Good skills with SQL and basic Scripting experience (Perl, Shell)
*MS SQL Server knowledge is an advantage
*Virtualization experience (ideally VMWare)
*A background in the financial industry is a strong plus
*Excellent communication skills in English
