SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - SHIP BUILDING

A Senior Structural Engineer with structures and ship building and experience is required to work on a nine month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Portsmouth.

This is a nine month contract working for a UK leading defence client.

OVERVIEW OF THE SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER CONTRACT ROLE

This positon is to support junior engineers, manage budgets, lead and motivate teams and make engineering decisions within their own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority. Familiar with more than one aspect of the life cycle. Have the ability to carry out complex technical analyses and investigations. Prepare complex specifications and deliver packages of work as part of cross functional projects/investigations ensuring requirements are delivered according to plan. Liaise with customers and support the identification of future business opportunities. Have a good awareness of their own business strategy and legal regulatory obligations.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

- Support the Spatial effort in the Mid MAIT by resolve structural queries in a timely manner.
- Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
- Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
- Carry out investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
- Act as the main point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives.

The role is based in Portsmouth, Hampshire - commutable from Southampton, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester.
