Senior Solutions Test Engineer

SENIOR SOLUTIONS TEST ENGINEER (CONTRACT)

A large global communications company is looking for a Senior Solutions QA/Test Engineer for a long term contract role. The ideal candidate is expected to bring a new perspective to the solution testing methodology currently in use today, and to drive change to this methodology so as to improve not only the team's effectiveness but also the overall quality of our products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Developing/Enhancing test methodology, test plans/specifications & undertaking test execution at various levels.
- Understanding product enhancements under development, as well as business objectives/requirements behind the product enhancements and translate into high quality test plans and test specifications, ensuring comprehensive quality assurance testing of the developed solution against the business requirements.
- Design/Development of internal test tools and utilities.

DUTIES

- Documentation of new processes and the maintenance of related documents as necessary.
- Participate in the troubleshooting of solution defects during the development cycle and for deployed solutions.
- Disciplined reporting, tracking, and resolution of solution defects.
- Review and recommend enhancements to existing process and tools to improve the team's productivity in the future.
- Involved in Test automation, ensuring that the scripts created are to a high standard maintained and executed regularly by the test team.
- Design/Development of internal test tools and utilities.

SKILLS

- Working knowledge of development and test life-cycles
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrate ability to understand complex software functionality
- Good familiarity with Unix in particular Solaris and Linux.
- Excellent Scripting skills eg bash, Perl, AWK, PHP etc.
- Database experience, writing SQL, using databases, in particular Oracle & MySQL.
- Experience using and developing test automation tools.
