Description of Project or Company/Organization:
The Canadian Forces Warfare Centre (CFWC) is the centre responsible for the development of training, doctrine, Lessons Learned and experimentation at the Joint level of war. It is responsible to the Chief of Force Development (CFD) and is an enabler for CF Joint Force capability development.
The CFWC requires various services to be performed on an &as and when requested& basis
Job Description:
The Senior Software Programmer may be required to provide integration and inter operability support to the Integrated Test Bed (ITB) and Joint Battle Lab (JBL) as Command, Control Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Recognizance (C4ISR) systems and prototype software systems are added, modified, or integrated. They may be required to apply standard engineering methods and techniques for solving problems, and implementations of test, and validation designs. They may also be required to support developers and designers in carrying out application development analysis and design, to provide extensive user support for application usage such as scenario development and generation, to help install and configure application architecture and provide first line debug support. The software Programmers may support the design of new tools to be integrated into the test bed, as well as provide integration recommendations for bringing Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) tools into the test bed. They may also be required to produce various Department of Defence Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and Department of Nation Defence Architecture Framework (DNDAF) products.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Support the integration and inter operability of C2 systems added to the JBL and ITB
- Investigate security issues associated with the information exchange at different levels and between different &domains all of subset of these tools may then be selected for integration into various projects, the ITB, or JBL or all to support, install and conduct 'C2 System Administrator' functions for all current and future C2 systems such as but not limited to: CPOF, JADOCS, TBMCS, GCCS-M, GCCS-J and ICC
- Provide technical support to the prototype during live exercise and human in-the-loop simulations
- Integrate GFE, GOTS, or COTS software or systems
- Perform integration of new elements into the architecture
- Provide subject matter expertise regarding protocols, standards and guidelines with regards to integration of components and tools
- Provide support to the CFWC technical staff for the deployment of the ITB and JBL
- Recommend options to the CFWC for additional software and network equipment to ensure a successful deployment of the ITB and JBL
- Perform system administration and baseline management
- Connect or disconnect components or sub-systems, as required such as other projects systems or coalition systems
- Define and assemble the experimentation infrastructure, develop tools to manage and inject information into the experiments, and capture transaction data through the experiment
- Develop test plans
- Oversee the testing of the tools and writing test reports
- Support developers and designers in carrying out application development analysis and design, to provide extensive user support for application usage such as scenario development and generation
- Install and configure application architecture and providing first line debug support
Mandatory Qualifications: - Must have one (1) of the following:
- Degree from a Canadian University
- Diploma from a Canadian college
- Canadian Forces Command and Staff College qualification
- Minimum of five (5) years combined experience in the last 10 years creating and modifying source code to provide software solutions for business, scientific or technical requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the last 10 years prototyping modelling and simulation software tools
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in the last five (5) years integrating new elements into existing software architecture
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in the last five (5) years developing software test plans, including test plans for software integration
- Valid SECRET PWGSC security clearance
