Senior Software Engineer - Java, Spring, SQL, Junit

DESCRIPTION:

My client is rebuilding OACS, the Front End through which authors transfer copyright and buy products relating to content they've had published. It handles a significant amount of revenue and enables a lot of content to be published, but the original system is showing its age and will not be able to handle the increasing usage of the platform. It is being rewritten, module by module, in Spring MVC and migrated to Amazon AWS. As the features OACS provides will be key to long term, significant investment is being made in code quality and the new platform is being built for maintainability using BDD and TDD.

The Contract Senior Software Engineer is primarily a hands-on software development role, it will encompass all aspects of the software development life cycle. The team structure is flat and everyone does end to end development.

SKILLS:

- Solid working knowledge of the following technologies:
- Java (5+ years commercial experience)
- Spring MVC (preferable, but extensive experience with a different modern Java web framework is ok too)
- JavaScript/JQuery
- Hibernate
- SQL (we use Oracle, but any major DBMS is ok)
- JUnit and Mockito (or similar)

DESIRABLE, BUT NOT REQUIRED, TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGIES:

- AWS
- Configuration management (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
- XML/XSLT
