Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer required to work on a contract basis, in Oxfordshire. This is an initial 3 month contract, however likely to extend much further.

My client is looking to create a central platform for content enrichment services and processes. This will be built within the Amazon cloud infrastructure and will enable various tools to be executed over content that is ingested by their cloud-based content warehouse. The tools and the downstream processes will be orchestrated by a combination of custom code and AWS components. In addition, some apps may be built to visualise, administrate and perform experimental data science on the various enrichment capabilities that are integrated by the team.

Due to this project we are looking to increase the team further and bring on another contract senior Software Engineer. We are looking for technical experts in Java, who will develop the technology, however also collaborate and contribute to the decisions within the team.

Must have skills for the role -
- High competence in Server Side Java, including any well-known web container (Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic, WebSphere etc) and Spring Core
- Test Driven Development (JUnit and Mockito preferred)
- Web services, especially REST APIs (must have)
- Core Java (should be expert)
- HTML5 - should have built client-side Scripting in web pages
- Should have used XML and JSON in previous projects
- Experience with both relational and nosql database platforms

Desirable skills to have and not essential -
- Linux (basics)
- Behaviour Driven Development (Cucumber preferred)
- Experience of AWS services like SQS, and S3
- Experience with Data Science or Text Processing
