Our client is a hugely popular Fortune 500 company seeking a SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER to be accountable for managing and coordinating resources and processes to deliver software releases of interfacing technology products. The Software Development Manager participates in defining the strategy for the product development team by driving initiatives that deliver the company vision. This role will provide structure and support to the multiple software development teams, quality assurance, and infrastructure teams. The Software Development Manager is empowered to work through challenges by applying your own creative problem-solving techniques to lead a towards business objectives.

This is a CONTRACT TO HIRE opportunity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Evolve and mature a cohesive and powerful team of top notch software architects and developers
- Lead the integration of Quality Engineering directly into the product development process
- Implement appropriate development methodologies (SCRUM/Agile/Kanban) best practices, documentation, and tools
- Drive improvements in velocity of product/release delivery
- Assess and communicate risks based on complexity, resource and timeline constraints
- Champion and improve our continuous integration and deployment within and across teams
- Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate with an influence cross-functional teams across product line boundaries
- Proven ability to mentor team leads and team leads/junior team members to be effective
- Must be a strong self-starting leader to motivate and drive success with uncompromising strong ethics/values

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS or BA degree in a related field or significant relevant work experience
- 5+ years management experience overall
- 2+ years of experience managing development when critical product features where being delivered by multiple teams and vendors requiring significant communication and coordination, spanning Back End systems to the presentation layer
- Proven ability to lead the development of implementation plans for the release management to deploy
- 7+ years total software development experience
- 3+ years of experience in a manager role (people management)
- 3+ years as a software developer/engineer with significant technical contributions
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, interpersonal, and time management skills, proven ability to delegate tasks to smaller teams to get results
- Strong understanding of database structures
- Experience with source code management tools and defect tracking systems mandatory
- Familiarity with advanced software/testing methodologies such as TDD
- Familiarity with designing systems to intrinsically support quality and performance testing
- Experience with monitoring systems and approaches
- Proven success with large enterprise MDM or ERP implementations
- Experience with technologies like SQL, TIBCO CIM/MDM, TIBCO BW, TIBCO BE, Oracle Retail ERP, relational databases, Java, ExtJS framework, JSON and SOA a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills a MUST
