Senior Software Development Engineer

Multiple Senior Software Development Engineers required to undertake the development for the creation, enhancement and maintenance of new applications and the enhancement and maintenance of existing applications.

This position is required to provide out of hours support on a rostered on-call basis to provide 24-hour support for its critical business applications.

DUTIES:

- Ensure that all development adheres to enterprise architecture methodologies, strategies, standards and advice
- Prepare technical specifications and ensure that all documentation is current and easily understood
- Develop test plans and scripts
- Develop schedules and resource plans
- Develop release plans for applications, ensuring the release processes align with the organisation's change management methodologies and standards
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and integration
- Provide escalated business critical system support

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Strong knowledge of applications development methodologies and enterprise architecture, and experience in all aspects of the full systems development life cycle (SDLC)
- Experience in the planning, development and high-level technical maintenance of medium to large applications
- Strong Core Java development skills and WebServices experience, including integrating with 3rd party SOAP APIs/REST
- Experience in the design and implementation of multi-threaded/low latency applications
- Strong knowledge of XML
- Experience in using testing and mocking frameworks, eg JUnit and Mockito
- Experience of the Oracle and/or MS SQL tool set
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level attention to detail
