Senior java Developer - Liverpool - £40,000+

Requirement for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our IT Software Development team inLiverpoolreporting to the IT Delivery Manager.

You will be taking a lead role in the analysis, design, and development & testing of applications from use case and system configuration documents for corporate systems. You will also provide supervision and mentoring for software developers to deliver software that meet industry best practice standards.

This role will require you to work with Solutions Architects, Business Analysts and Project Managers throughout projects to ensure that business requirements are delivered and innovate new solutions and approaches as required. You will follow design patterns from Solution Architects, write technical design documents and review technical design documents and proposals to ensure that the functional and business needs identified with the users are met.

In addition, you will execute performance tests where required and optimise code performance along with reviewing application and user acceptance test plan document. You will also provide training to other members of the technology team and any other QVC staff as related to assigned projects.

Using software development tools, you will create applications from technical documents to meet the business functional requirements. A key element of the role will also require you to analyse the requirements, design and develop programs, create unit tests and accurate documentation along with ensuring programs are robust and fit for purpose.

The ideal candidate will need either a Degree or HND in a computer or mathematical related discipline and proven commercial experience as a lead software developer, delivering enterprise level solutions for several hundred user involvement projects. We require experience in the following tools: Java , EJB, Swing, Unix, J Query, Spring, Hibernate, TDD/BDD. Experience of Oracle and or SQL Server would be advantageous. Any experience of Scrum, Agile and Jira would be advantageous but not essential

To be successful in this role you will be a confident communicator both verbally and in writing, and have the ability to successfully do this with colleagues in different time zones etc. The ability to manage your own workload, to prioritise and to multi-task are essential, as is a real passion and enthusiasm for the work you are involved in. You will also demonstrate a proven ability to work in, and adapt to, a fast-paced environment, and have demonstrated a keen ability and interest in learning new technologies.
