Senior Server Administrator - Windows

Our client is a federation of 38 separate health insurance organizations and companies in the United States. Combined, they directly or indirectly provide health insurance to over 99 million Americans.

Manager needs candidates who are hands-on technical with Windows Server and preferably SQL. He/she is not looking for a desktop/network candidate but a TRUE Server Administrator.

DAILY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

--Will be responsible for 150 Servers (there are 1800 total in the environment)  providing server support, operations, and maintenance on a Windows platform.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL BACKGROUND:

--At least 4 years of Windows server support and administration experience.
--Familiar with remediating and patching SQL.

SPECIAL WORK HOURS OR CONDITIONS:

--On-call is required (rotation) and over time is a part of that. Please make sure your candidates are comfortable working overtime and working on-call.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

20% Administers use, capacity and performance of server systems. Focuses on multiple aspects of server operations across multiple platforms. Works with end users and vendors to resolve server issues.

Upgrades and configures server devices from multiple vendors.

20% Maintains effective relationships with external suppliers to ensure appropriate levels of support. Schedules, plans, and performs system upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments.

20% Confers with users to resolve problems affecting server performance. Validates and adjusts server configuration as needed. Generates server utilization/trending/error reports as requested. Observes and controls the status and performance of all components of server/system facilities.

20% Maintains control of server devices. Control access to, and authorization level of devices. Maintains effective security/backup and disaster recovery processes and systems. Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations as needed.

10% Address vulnerabilities within audit-mandated time frames. Ensure server compliance with audit requirements. Participates in continuous review and remediation to ensure that processes meet changing business unit conditions.

5% Creates and maintains process and procedure documentation. Provides feedback on commonly encountered problems and misunderstandings to enhance user documentation and/or training programs etc. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.

5% Updates knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in server administration technology.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Bachelor degree-OR-Combined education & extra job-related work exp-OR-extra 4 years related work exp (Total 8 years exp)

Windows Server support and administrative experience - Required 4 years

Familiar with Remediation and patching SQL Servers - Nice to have  1 year

Can work On-call and Overtime - Required
