This Sr. Scientist/Principal Scientist position is focused on late stage cell culture process development in the Process Culture & Fermentation group within Biopharmaceutical Development in R&D. The candidate will be a strategic thinker and scientific leader with a broad knowledge of cell culture process and media/feed development/optimization. The candidate will lead a team responsible for developing and optimizing cell culture processes for the production of therapeutic proteins including mAbs and participating in the transferring of processes to clinical and commercial sites. The candidate will also contribute to authoring / reviewing /and approving development reports and CMC sections in regulatory submissions such as IND and BLA. The incumbent will be expected to have in-depth knowledge with a good understanding of links within and outside of process cell culture to support successful development of late stage biologicals. This critical position will combine both scientific and strategic leadership elements. The incumbent will define and collaborate with management and staff to identify and solve scientific and technical challenges of the field and to execute new scientific/regulatory directions that will enable meeting MedImmune portfolio/pipeline goals. As a scientific leader within process cell culture the candidate will be expected to represent the function in cross functional teams within development as well as outside of Biopharmaceutical development. As a people manager, mentoring and career development of staff is also an important part of the responsibility.
