Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist Job

SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE/ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SAN FRANCISCO, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Expertise in cell culture of mammalian cell lines, and isolation and culture of human or mouse tissue derived primary cells.
- Cell-based assays for cell phenotype analysis, growth/viability and signal transduction on cancer cells or immune cells.
- Measurement and manipulation of gene/RT-PCR, si/shRNA, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing.
- Independent data analysis and presentation.
- Proficient in multiplexed plate based signalling and cytokine assays.
- Core cell biology skills including flow cytometry, microscopy, Westerns, immunoprecipitation, ELISA etc.
- Experience with in vivo studies in mice.
- CRO management is a plus.
- Able to independently design experiments to address a scientific question.
- Self-directed use of literature to inform approaches and experimental methods.
- Able to critically analyze and interpret data.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and implement creative solutions.
- First-rate skills in spotting artifacts and troubleshooting assays.
- Solid understanding of scientific mechanisms and experimental techniques, with knowledge of cancer cell biology preferable.
- Strong motivation to improve cancer treatment.
- Design and execute experiments independently and with high efficiency and accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and optimize assays.
- Work with human blood and tissue samples.
- Understand and execute on role tasks.
- Actively participate in the development of cell-based assays for mechanistic studies, including biomarker discovery.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Candidates must have a Bachelors degree in the Life Sciences with at least 5 - 8 years industry experience.
- Masters degree with at least 3 - 6 years experience in a research environment.
- PhD candidates will be considered too.
