Senior Radio Engineer

Projektbeschreibung
Job purpose:
Introduce new technologies/hardware equipment types/features in the network. Write/review/update radio network design & rollout guidelines. Be involved in tactical studies wrt access network rollout (2G/3G/4G)
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Radio engineers perform a lot of tasks. The way radio engineering tasks are done, and the
reasons for doing things in a certain way is not always well documented. The senior radio
engineer will write/review/update radio network design and rollout guidelines. He/she will also
present and explain these guidelines to an audience of radio engineers working in network rollout
or optimisation.
eg:
Link budget and link balance, design thresholds 2G/3G/4G
Capacity mgmt. design rules 2G/3G/4G Voice/Data
2. Conduct or be involved in studies relating to strategy/tactics of future network evolution.
eg:
Future 3G rollout: what about use of 2100 vs 900 MHz
3G rollout: use of 900MHz nationwide, also in city centers
Future 4G rollout: how to prioritize sites (sites in the construction pipe, or sites to add to the
construction pipe)
Use of 800MHz/1800MHz/2600MHz
Use of small cells, femtocells, picocells,
Backhaul evolution
3. Introduce new technologies, types of hardware, features in the network
Evaluate the use of new things, estimate the benefit it brings, follow-up the creation of the
necessary methods and procedures, conduct field trials, make a recommendation for rollout.
PROFILE
Education
Master telecom or equivalent by experience.
Soft skills
Language: English is a hard requirement, Dutch or French are an asset.
Team player
Good communicator: being able to produce clear presentations and documents, being able to
explain highly technical matters in a well-structured and easy to understand way to a team of radio
engineers.
Methodical and organized.
Solid analytical skills.
Creative, positive attitude and taking initiative.
Technical skills
Solid and proven knowledge of 2G, EDGE, 3G, HSPA, HSPA+, 4G
Solid a proven experience in radio design as well as solid knowledge of its underlying theoretical
foundations.
Knowledge of the site build process
Knowledge of an RF planning tool like Atoll is an advantage
