Senior QA BI/Data Warehouse Analyst

Currently this client is seeking a QA ANALYST to work for centralized testing and QA services for multiple platforms and products across the enterprise. This group operates a vast array of high-volume ETL data flows, client-facing Information Products and internal BI/Analytics environments. The corporation's Data Warehouse and Business intelligence platform is an integral component of the broader services. The accuracy and reliability of this complex environment is critical to the company in a variety of ways.

The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of BI/Analytics environments to assure quality in a fast-paced and highly complex big data environment. This position will have responsibility to oversee and coordinate with a number of 3rd party vendor activities around the world, delivering test plans, cases, and producing results. The candidate must embrace teamwork and promote a culture of openness and flexibility with business partners and the extended team. Communication skills are essential as direct engagement with business operations teams will be a significant part of the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Reporting QA project activity, meeting commitments and ensuring that testing and QA activities comply with corporate policies and adhere to industry best practices.
- Understand cross-functional dependencies and collaborate with other teams to meet end-to-end quality goals.
- Play a QA leadership role on the team in the BI/Analytics environment for the Data Warehouse - ensuring a comprehensive test plan, clearly articulated test cases, and team productivity in execution.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts and ensure proper sizing of QA efforts, defining success criteria and managing expectations.
- Understand cross-functional dependencies and collaborate with other teams to meet end-to-end quality goals.
- Understand product and platform dependencies and help define QA environment and infrastructure needs.
- Foster partnerships with upstream and downstream teams including development, UAT, and user groups to ensure alignment and consistency in reducing product quality risk throughout the SDLC.
- Guide team on multi-threaded project deliveries and mitigate quality risk exposure.
- Be accountable for tactical day-to-day decisions including estimating, scheduling, test planning, execution, and risk management.
- Drive continuous improvement around processes and technical capabilities (ie automation strategies).
- Partner with offshore team members to ensure effective execution, leveraging scale as project demand warrants.
- Evaluate current procedures and practices and drive continuous improvement around processes and technical capabilities (ie automation strategies). Champion a metrics driven approach in all key process areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 6 years of progressive professional work experience in a development and/or quality assurance role
- 4+ years in a BI/Analytics data warehouse environment
- Ability to deliver results on multiple projects in a complex, fast-moving environment
- Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions for QA challenges and constraints
- Solid understanding of Black Box and White Box testing, BI/Analytics report testing, performance testing, TEST AUTOMATION, requirements traceability and general QA process reporting
- Strong work experience with MicroStrategy or similar analytical reporting technology
- Solid technical understanding of Ab Initio or similar ETL technology
- Experience in leading major efforts across a geographically distributed team and a highly matrixed environment
- Ability to diagnose and drive continuous improvement in a collaborative manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must sit onsite in Austin

NICE TO HAVE:

- Experience in waterfall, RUP, iterative and agile methodologies a strong plus
- Experience in using industry standard test management tools (eg Quality Center, Clearquest, JIRA) is a strong plus.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of payment products, services, processing, systems, and operations a plus

Duration of assignment: Through 6/27/2014 with possible extension.
