SR PROJECT MANAGER INDIANAPOLIS, IN CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY

The role will focus on key strategic or complex single projects, or on multiple projects, of $500,000 - $7m services value. The successful individual will have significant experience in managing this type of engagement, and will be highly proficient in change management, and managing the scope of projects. S/He will also be used to managing virtual teams and will come from a background where the focus will have been on technology-oriented projects.

Typical infrastructure projects will include contractual service transitions, transformation projects, data center relocations, Rollouts, WAN projects, IP projects, VDI/virtualization engagements. The successful individual will not be aligned to any specific vertical sector or line of business, but will operate across all.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Defining, shaping, leading and delivering transitional and/or transformational infrastructure projects of a large and/or strategic and/or complex nature
- Employing accurate estimating techniques, and to use product-based planning, risk management, change management, monitoring and control appropriately
- Running projects adopting, and sometimes refining, the accepted best practices, and ensuring the project team do so too
- Monitoring, and reporting on, the overall profitability of the project
- Escalating promptly any issues that may in future have an impact on the org or the future relationship with the customer
- Conducting activities that lead to a customer purchasing project services
- Producing bids, running project definition workshops and participating in pre-sales presentations and meetings
- Working closely with management to develop and enhance service offerings
- Contributing fully to company and cross-function service developments
- Acting as a mentor and role model to the rest of the project management community
- Active involvement in presales

In each of the above duties the following approach is expected:

- Working effectively with the project team, customer, management, and the other stakeholders
- Effective communication, working with customers, sales teams and internal and external service providers to develop relationships and hence increase sales
- Mentoring and developing staff assigned to his/her projects and provide significant leadership in assignments
- Full understanding and where possible shaping the commercials of the engagement

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

- PMP Certification
- Must have experience in having managed at least 3 large, complex infrastructure projects of $100,000 services value (excluding hardware)
- Experience in managing infrastructure transition or transformation projects
- Intimate knowledge of change management, risk management, setting up and initiating projects.
- Evidence of being solely commercially responsible for high value, complex projects (costs, charges, P&L)
- Literate (ability to write credible documents) and numerate (confident with calculating costs and margins)
- Experience successfully running a number of large and/or complex infrastructure projects
- Ability to run PDWs (Project Definition Workshop)
- Technical appreciation
- Ability to be hands-on as required
- Experience in writing proposals
- Ability to judge correct balance between flexibility and single-mindedness
- Exceptional influencing skills
- Must have current passport, driving license and be willing to drive
- Must work on-site in Indianapolis several days per week, but does not have to be local
