Senior Product Safety Engineer

Roc Search is currently recruiting for a Senior Product Safety Engineer to work for a client based in Staffordshire.

Reporting to the Product Safety Team Leader the purpose of the role is to utilise extensive knowledge of product safety to co-ordinate/manage designated product approvals, ensuring that good working relationships are established with the approval bodies.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:
*Co-ordinate/manage the product approval or registration by relevant bodies by ensuring that good working relationships are established with the approval bodies and that self-certification statements, supporting documentation and certificates are produced to customer requirements.
*Co-ordination/developing the submission of product design changes to approval bodies.
*Ensure test results are available in formats appropriate to particular Approval bodies.
*Contribute as a team member throughout the life cycle of nominated protection product creation and modification projects, on all matters associated with validation and certification.
*Initiate improvements in the techniques used in environmental, functional and system verification tests conducted by the R&D of the Business Unit and/or by external test houses.
*Perform technical reviews of the validation safety test results of protection products.
*Produce information for Approval Bodies of any changes in the product that might affect approval status.

*Co-ordinate the creation of standard safety related tests, introducing automatic test methods when possible.
*Provide a consultancy facility within Automation and Information Systems in the specialist field of Product Safety.

Candidate requirements:
*Engineering/Physics degree or equivalent.
*Experience of numerical protection, control and measurement products either in hardware or software design or support in environmental, functional and system testing.
*Knowledge of Automation Products, national and/or international safety specifications, standards and directives relating to protection, control and measurement products.
*Knowledge of Approval Bodies and the procedures for achieving approvals.
*Knowledge of a second European language an advantage.

Duration: 6-12 Months
