£33,661 - £39,855
FULL TIME - 35 HOURS PER WEEK
SOUTHEND ON SEA
11 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Southend Borough Council are looking for an experienced adoption worker to undertake a piece of research and planning into Concurrent Planning. This post is to be at a senior practitioner level to focus on the understanding and culture around adoption.

The piece of work required is to:
* Look at other successful concurrent planning projects
* Look at the children placed in Southend in the past 5 years to see how many could have been placed in this way
* Look at recruitment issues given that most Southend children are placed outside of Southend
* Identify support and training which would be required and set up a core training programme
* Look with the fostering Advertising and Recruitment Officer at advertising needs and costing for the project
* Look with the adoption Consortium at a possible way forward using the already established consortium roots.
* Identify if/how such a project would ensure less disruption for children
* Produce at the end of the project a complete document putting a new scheme in place and clearly identifying the cost and effectiveness of the project and helping to inform the new sufficiency statement.

We believe that a project of this nature would ensure Southend was one of only a handful of local authorities outside of London to operate a concurrent planning project and that it potentially would enable us to place some of our older children who do not usually attract adoptive parents.
