We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to work within an outsourcing company in Witham, Essex.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage and co-ordinate input in respect of confidential data to ensure accurate record updates, in accordance with the payroll service policies and procedures and within specified timetables.
- Ensure the verification and validation of data, in accordance with the checking procedure.
- Ensure the correct application of statutory regulations in respect of data (eg PAYE, NIC and NHS Pension).
- Manage and load files into systems in accordance with the service processes and procedures, including the checking process.
- Run service related reports to ensure the integrity of the data and payments
- Process complex files, such as payroll run process, in accordance with policy, procedures and timetables.
- Plan and organise the work of a team ensuring essential duties are carried out in accordance with the set deadlines.
- Participate in working groups relating to this specialised area of work.
- Verify the validity of team output as appropriate, by applying appropriate regulations and terms and conditions of service (eg Agenda for Change, Trust Terms and Conditions, Pension Regulations).
- Ensure the correct application of statutory regulations
- Provide all statutory and non statutory data in accordance to contracted deadlines
- Ensure all records are managed in accordance with the relevant Pension Regulations and statutory requirements.
- Analyse output to identify trends and to recommend improvement to the systems and processes.
- To manage the complaint response process to a satisfactory conclusion. Escalating formal complaints in accordance with the agreed procedure.
- Responsible for ensuring errors are identified and logged and corrective action taken in accordance with the agreed procedure.
- Deal promptly and effectively with any problems or discrepancies impacting on the production of output.
- Ensure all staff receive an appraisal, and have their performance continually measured through 1:1 sessions, team briefings and performance management reports.
- Ensure adequate training and development of the team members is appropriately applied.
- Provide technical & specialist support and data in relation to services, to internal and external colleagues
- The provision of complex calculations and estimates
- Implement process efficiency techniques and performance measures and monitor outcomes. This will include statistical compilation.
- Prepare and manage projects, for internal and external stakeholders. Provide risk analysis and ensure risk mitigation or escalation.
- To support the on boarding of new client contracts
- Manage a team and their performance, ensuring they are clear about their roles and responsibilities, and have the skills required to deliver an efficient and responsive service.
- Plan and organise the work of a team ensuring essential duties are carried out in accordance with the timetables.
- Liaise with clients to propose process and data management solutions.
- Assist in providing cover in the absence of colleagues or in covering vacant positions.
- Ensure the Serco Management System is implemented throughout the team. Ensure all staff are aware of the key policies and have completed mandatory training in accordance with the set schedule

YOU WILL HAVE:

Degree educated or equivalent, relevant experience & 2 A levels or equivalent relevant experience
