Senior Oracle/Peoplesoft Database Administrator

Description of Duties:
Seeking a Senior Oracle/PeopleSoft Database Administrator. The successful candidate will take a senior role providing database services to the business and scientific users at the Laboratory. The candidate must have extensive domain knowledge of database technologies and capabilities. Extensive expertise in PeopleSoft and Oracle database administration is required. In addition, working knowledge of one or more of the following databases is highly desired: Microsoft Sql Server; Postgres; and/or MySQL. This position requires current, practical and extensive experience managing large, enterprise wide databases and supplying quality, dependable, secure database services. This position is responsible for all aspects of an enterprise wide operation including security, performance, uptime, maintenance and tuning.

Essential Functions:

- Provide primary support for Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise production application and database
- Monitor, tune, diagnose and resolve problems with databases, and applications
- Support production, qa/test and development instances plus respective application environments
- Install, upgrade and support production PeopleSoft application software
- Provide technical support for application development groups
- Insure the security of data through the design, implementation, and monitoring of backup, disaster recovery and security strategies
- Develop, refine, and document procedures related to database administration tasks
- Perform operational architecture analysis, design, implementation, and support of the business systems database and Application Server environment
- Commit to support of key business systems, requiring occasional off-hours effort

Requirements:
- 5+ years full time experience in the information technology field
- 3+ years recent experience in Oracle/PeopleSoft database administration - key areas are backup, restore, installation, patching, configuration, and monitoring
- Must have 3+ years in production operations support
- Must be able to provide primary support for Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise application using PeopleTools including experience with application monitoring, performance tuning, production change control, development team support, application patching, planning and execution of PeopleTools upgrades, production application of tax updates, and support of HRMS application upgrades
- 3+ years recent experience in supporting Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise environment - experience must include PeopleTools upgrades, application of tax updates, support of PeopleTools 8.48+ for a production installation, Oracle/BEA WebLogic web server installation and administration

- Working knowledge of one or more of the following databases is highly desired: Microsoft Sql Server; Postgres; and/or MySQL.
- Strong working knowledge of UNIX or Linux operating system - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 experience preferred
- Proven proficiency in Linux/Unix Shell Scripting
- Proven ability to quickly acquire and apply new technical skills
- Experience with meeting tight deadlines and successfully balancing multiple concurrent priorities
- Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills
- Professional demeanor, with the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
