Senior Oracle DBA / Database Administrator - Liverpool, £40-45k

A vacancy has arisen within a large, well established IT team working within the retail industry for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join on a permanent basis. The Oracle DBA must be an expert with Oracle 10g and/or Oracle 11g and have good scripting skills with SQL & PL/SQL to query/analyse the databases. This is primarily a production DBA role and the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining 2 business critical oracle databases. One database sits on a Unix system and the other on Windows, so experience in at least one of these environment (i.e. Microsoft / Linux ) is essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working within a team of DBA's to ensure that Oracle databases are performing efficiently and are maintained and upgraded in a timely manner.

Essential experience required:

- Oracle Database Versions 9i-11g
- Oracle DataGuard
- NAS or SAN
- RMAN
- Performance Tuning
- Writing SQL & PL/SQL queries
- Linux or Unix

Desirable experience:

- SQL Server Databases (2005, 2008, 2012)
- Oracle RAC
- ASM
- Oracle Enterprise Manager/Grid Control
- Data-warehousing

This will be a senior role within the business and the DBA will be expected to help make technical and business decisions within the IT team using their own oracle, database and commercial expertise.

The position will entail regular communication with both clients and team members, and the successful candidate will be responsible for reporting directly to the Data Manager, so strong communication skills are required.

A salary of £40,000-£45,000 is available for the right candidate.
