Senior Network Engineer (Backbone Engineering)

JOB LOCATION:

This position will be based in Dübendorf, Switzerland and you will join a dynamic, fast growing and international team.
Organizational integration and reporting line:
Reports to Manager of Backbone Engineering Team within Engineering Department

GOAL OF THE JOB:

- Engineering of Huawei's customer backbone network
- To support product development process in the area of backbone network either for mobile or fixed net
- To address conceptual network reliability, redundancy and quality of service aspect in the domain of backbone network by constant monitoring and planning network elements
- To provide network design and network changes proposals (optimization and/or planning) based on traffic changes and forecasts or project requests
- To provide project management for network changes, extensions
- To initiate and support internal implementations within networks
- To build guidelines on how to grow the network in a controlled and structured manner

TASKS AND DUTIES:

- DNS, DHCP and NTP server capacity, life cycle management
- Guarantee the necessary capacity for all service in DNS, DHCP and NTP domains, by monitoring and planning the related elements
- Open minded for fruitful relations with equipment third party vendors and other departments
- Measure the network performance with proper tools

Requirements:

EDUCATION

Degree in Engineering and further training on Project Management is preferred

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

- Must have worked several years in an Operations and/or Engineering in telco
- 5+ years experience in an RHEL/CENTOS Linux environment
- Deep understanding of DNS/DHCP/IPAM architecture within a distributed ISP environment
- Strong Scripting experience in Shell, PHP and Perl
- Experience Virtualization using XEN and KVM
- Good IPv4 and IPv6 knowledge
- Strong working knowledge in the following technologies: Web Services (Apache), Databases (Oracle and MySQL), DNS (BIND/Infoblox), trend monitoring software and alarming (Cacti/Nagios)
- Experience with Cramer OSS Suite
- Very good understanding with life cycle management, performance management, capacity management
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Preferably with IP Networking know-how, Ethernet and Layer two networking knowledge

LANGUAGES

- Fluent English and German in both oral and written
