Senior Network Engineer

SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEERrequired, to work on a project within a major Bank in Switzerland.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

-To work as part of a team of systems engineers with primary responsibility for the operation and maintenance and support of the Bank's IT communication environment.
-Primary focus on support for the Bank's Firewalls and VPN infrastructure based on Checkpoint technologies.
-Secondary focus on support, implementation and management F5 Load balancing.
-Change-management in a banking environment.
-Willingness to work outside normal working hours during service windows and to provide on-call cover for evenings and weekends.

PRIMARY SKILLS (WITHIN AN ENTERPRISE NETWORKING ENVIRONMENT)

-Proven in-depth knowledge and experience in some of the following technologies: TCP/IP, STP, VRRP, HSRP, NAT, QoS, SNMP, VoIP, ACLs; Checkpoint Firewalls and F5 Load balancers.
-Experience in network support, configuration implementation and management of Checkpoint Firewalls, F5 Load balancer and VPN infrastructures (eg Riverbed).
-Experience with server virtualisation technologies and clustered Linux and Windows environments an advantage.
-Ability to manage, balance and prioritise workload between operational and project related activities.
-Excellent command of English both verbal and written, a working knowledge of German desirable.
-Self-motivator, able to quickly learn new technologies, showing initiative and enthusiasm, as well as the ability to cope with variable workload.
-Team player with good communication skills, customer-oriented.
-Methodical, with attention to detail and good organisational skills

WORK EXPERIENCE

-A minimum of five years' experience providing support for communication LAN/WAN environments, ideally in a banking environment, longer term contracts are an advantage
-Experience in (ITIL) business-focused support delivery concepts, and in incident, problem, release, change, configuration and capacity management processes

QUALIFICATIONS

-Degree in computer science (or equivalent work experience).
-Professionally recognised certification, Checkpoint certification and F5 certification is an advantage.
