Senior Network Engineer

For our client in Basel, we are seeking a SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months
Location: Basel
Language: English
Daily Roles and Responsibilities:
- 40% Support Calls (Tier 1/2)
- Handle first line escalations from Service Desk
- IP Address assignments
- Switchport and VLAN assignments
- Performance and connectivity troubleshooting
- Wireless connectivity troubleshooting
- 30% Support Escalation, Advanced troubleshooting, Performance Monitoring, and continuous service improvement - (looking for someone who is motivated and proactive!)
- 30% Project based
- Daily Support for Cisco Campus Network consisting of 15 Buildings across Cambridge and Boston
The ideal Engineer with have experience with the following:
- 8 Years IT Experience and Minimum 5 years direct Network Experience in a Fast Paced Environment
- Expert configuring and supporting F5 LTM and GTM appliances
- Expert Level using TCPDUMP and Network Sniffers for Advanced troubleshooting
- The Candidate must have Expertise with Routing and Switching in Global Enterprise environment
- Hands on experience with Checkpoint Firewall/UTM
- Ability to Support and troubleshoot Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
- Must demonstrate proficiency in structured, problem-solving methodology
- Solid understanding of Cisco Wireless in the Enterprise
- Experience supporting either Cisco ASA for remote access
- QoS, VoIP, VRF, VRRP, HSRP, STP
- IPS Technologies - TippingPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
- Very strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills
- Must be team oriented (mentor to junior staff, sharing knowledge, cross training, documentation)
- Experience building metrics and reporting - trending
Required
- afterhours and weekend support (fairly limited)
- Possible domestic and international Travel (limited)
- Must be able to carry 50lbs
