Senior Network Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Works on the IOS to IOS-XR conversion project in various stages including prep work auditing the network for configuration exceptions against the Router template, converting the IOS to IOX configuration, testing and validating in lab, testing automation tool for the conversion, and training Tier 2 on IOS-XR fundamentals and conversion process.
- Also serves on the Tier 3 support rotation for the company's VPN services, supporting Layer 3 MPLS VPN customers.
- Responds to escalations caused by network technology issues and/or customer issues from the Tier 2 NOC.
- Works on forward-looking technology insertion projects for the service provider network, which will include upgrades, migrations, new feature enablement, and other network projects.
- Participates in lab testing, both to discover root cause for field issues and to certify new introduction of technology in a flawless fashion.
- Frequent technical interaction and presentation to customers required.
- Frequent interaction with labs and engineering partners, as well as Router vendors during investigation of field issues and development of new features.

SKILLS:

B.S or M.S in Engineering, Science or Telecom fields is required. Minimum 3-4 years experience ideal. Extensive knowledge of IP, MPLS, Multicast, Layer2 and Layer3 MPLS VPNs, Inter-as option 10A, 10C; Multicast VPN, PNNI, BGP, Router technology, Layer 2 switch technology (FR/ATM), EMS, SNMP, Network Management. Familiarity with Cisco RPM, GSRCCNP
Must have expertise in IOS, OSPF, MPLS VPN, and Router Reflector. Intermediate skills in IOS-XR, GSR 12416, Inter-AS, and Multicast VPN needed. Perl Scripting and JUNOS knowledge desired.
