Senior Mechanical Engineer Job

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - ENTRY LEVEL needed for a six (6) MONTH PLUS CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Chatsworth, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Designs, tests, evaluates and documents mechanical, fluidic and electromechanical components and modules for use in in-vitro diagnostic instruments.
- Prepare module, product or system layouts, schematics, and detailed plans to meet requirements.
- Generate three dimensional solid model representations of custom components, assemblies and systems in accordance with layouts and schematics.
- Research commercially available components and supplies for use in system and evaluate appropriateness.
- Analyze designs for motion, stress, strain, reliability, and economic and manufacturing feasibility and optimize as necessary. Get vendor input on proposed parts and assemblies.
- Participate in design reviews to communicate the basis for design choices.
- Prepare and present progress and review documents to communicate status and efficacy of design solution to other technical personnel and to business and management staff.
- Plan and develop experimental test programs that will prove compliance with requirements. Conduct and/or supervise tests and prepare reports of test results. Analyze test data to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications and plan needed changes or additional tests.
- Generate dimensioned detail drawings and bill of materials to enable components and systems to be manufactured efficiently. Direct and coordinate manufacturing of prototype components and assembly of systems.
- Prepare and supervise preparation of release documentation for final designs in accordance with standards.
- Provide engineering support and direction for transition of design to manufacturing with maintenance of configuration control in file vault, SolidWorks Enterprise. Provide training and manufacturing support as needed. 10. Organize and maintain records of parts and drawings in vault. Create and maintain a record of the designs using product data management software, SolidWorks Enterprise, IRIS resource center and Oracle MRP.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least five years relevant experience is preferred.
- Work experience in an ISO environment or FDA regulated IVD manufacturer preferred.
- Ability to use SolidWorks solid modelling software, SolidWorks Enterprise software and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in graphical form.
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in written form.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: (AN EXAMPLE IS - MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT 50 LBS) Must be able to stand at a laboratory bench, sit at a computer, and reach to operate test instruments.
- Must be able to see close details of instruments and mechanism and see intermediate distance view of devices, instruments and computer monitors.
