Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client in the greater Chicago area is seeking a skill Principal Mechanical Engineer to perform HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design engineering work. Prior experience within a heavy industrial, clean room environment of food manufacturing facility is required. A PE license is also required for this position. Our client is looking only for local candidates at this time, and the position is slated to be contract-to-direct or direct hire dependent on candidate preference.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Field survey involving field measurements and manual sketching HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Define the project requirements and technical scope of work for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Analysis of the code compliance issues including seismic supports, and optimize the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design.
- Provide specifications and datasheets for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including ductwork, hydronic system components, air handling and heat transfer equipment, fans, pumps, vessels, and other related equipment
- Specify HVAC refrigeration and boiler systems, and associated equipment, and provide technical datasheet for the associated system equipment.
- Supervise, check HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system design work, technical quality, scheduling, and staffing levels to provide design packages in accordance with client's requirements

REQUIREMENTS

- Exposure to full work cycle on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects.
- Understanding on HVAC system fundamentals including psychrometrics and load calculation.
- Understanding of the codes (including International Mechanical, Energy Conservation, Plumbing, Fire and Fuel Gas Codes), ASHRAE and NFPA standards.
- Experience with master specifications, especially Section 15000 series.
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for laboratory, clean room, food processing and industrial applications.
- A PE License and AutoCAD experience is required. Exposure to Trace 700 is highly desired.
